Once upon a time I was a single child, the world was my oyster! For four glorious years I was the center of my family’s universe. When my baby brother was born, I was thrilled to have a new toy to play with, but I was surprised to find out that brothers come with a list of responsibilities and sacrifices. I had to share my room with him, check his homework, protect him from bullies and take blame for his actions. But I would do it all over again, because I got to see him grow up into the most awesome human being.
I recently photographed a family at Crispus Attucks Park in Washington DC. They had two most adorable little boys and their interactions reminded me of the life lessons I learned from my baby brother when he first arrived in this world.
- Baby brothers teach us to fight for our toys…
…but we also quickly learn that sharing is caring and playing together is more fun!
2) Mom gives my baby brother lots of love and kisses…
…but I have a special place in her heart and nothing will ever change that!

…while I roll. We may be in different stages in life, but we will always find a way to relate to one another.
