Togai and Kristan, along with some of their family and friends flew to Thailand to celebrate her birthday. It was already a big occasion, so she didn’t suspect a thing when Togai presented her with a custom made book of his favorite memories together. Kristan also went along when her uncle invited the whole group to a beach-side restaurant in Phuket as a birthday gift to her. As the sun was setting and painting the skies with fire, it was only natural to go and take birthday pictures by the water. That’s when Togai took Kristan’s hand and got on one knee, asking her to spend the rest of their lives together. As soon as she said yes they sent off a floating lantern into a clear starry sky to celebrate their engagement. They chose National Mall as a backdrop to their engagement photos, but while we were strolling through the columns of Lincoln Memorial they kept sharing their travel stories about Angkor Wat and other Cambodian temples. That gave me the idea to mix in some Jungle Book inspired shots along with the classic DC ones. It was one of the most unique Lincoln memorial sessions! Thank you for sharing your love story, your adventurous sprits and your morning with me!

These are incredible! The Tree shot and lift shot are my favorites! beautiful job!!!

Thank you! The monuments are so frequently requested for engagement session location! I got very excited to discover something new and inspiring at a location that I’ve shot at so often!

These are just GOREGEOUS! If you don’t mind me asking, what lenses did you use? I love the shot at the monument, they just pop off the background.

Thank you so much! I used a combination of 85 and 35 mm for this session. Both are F1,4 and I like to use them as close to wide open as possible.
